Arunima Basu,
Clinical Psychology Registrar

Arunima is a Clinical Psychology Registrar who works with children, adolescents, adults, and families. She holds a Masters of Clinical Psychology and first-class Honours in Psychology from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), and the Australian Association for Cognitive and Behaviour Therapy (AACBT).

Arunima takes a genuine, compassionate, and warm approach to therapy. She works collaboratively with her clients to create individualised treatment plans, drawing from a range of evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy, and Mindfulness-based interventions.

Arunima deeply values culturally-sensitive and intersectional clinical practice and is passionate about working with people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds, and people who identify as LGBTIQA+. She has a particular interest in working with anxiety disorders, trauma and stressor-related disorders, and grief.

Arunima has clinical experience working in community and hospital settings, including at the Royal Prince Alfred (RPA) Hospital Professor Marie Bashir Centre, RPA Hospital Infectious Disease Clinic, Bankstown Community Mental Health Service, and the UNSW Psychology Clinic. She is also skilled in completing psychometric assessments for ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Specific Learning Disorders in children, adolescents, and adults.

Outside of Approach Psychology, Arunima is conducting doctoral research exploring cognitive and clinical impairments in posttraumatic stress disorder at the University of New South Wales.
