dR. NISHA SETHI, CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST

Nisha is a warm and compassionate clinician who loves helping people on their journey to improving their mental health. As part of her assessment process, Nisha works collaboratively with her clients to form an understanding of what is happening for them, and why. From there, she develops and discusses individually tailored treatment programs with her clients to suit their needs and their goals. 

Nisha works with adult clients. She see her clients for a range of mental health concerns. Her main areas of interest include mood disorders, anxiety disorders, perfectionism, insomnia, grief and loss, procrastination, self-esteem, chronic illness, and perinatal mental health. Nisha’s main therapeutic approach is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). She is also trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). Nisha is committed to providing her clients with a high standard of care and so regularly takes part in professional development opportunities such as attendance at workshops and conferences. 

Nisha has over 12 years of clinical experience across private and public settings. She completed her clinical training at the Psychology Clinic at The University of New South Wales (UNSW), the Kiloh Centre at Prince of Wales Hospital, and the Psychology Department at Concord Repatriation General Hospital. Since then, Nisha has spent most of her time working in private practices across Sydney. She has also worked in the psychology team at RPA Virtual, a virtual health service at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. 

 Nisha holds a Combined Ph.D./Master of Psychology (Clinical) and a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours – Class 1) from UNSW. Nisha is registered with AHPRA and she is a member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA). Nisha’s Ph.D. research explored the negative effects that ostracism has on people. Specifically, she looked at why the negative effects of ostracism are prolonged for some individuals. She presented her research at both national and international conferences, and she has also published her research.
